Fight His Hands: The Scrapyard's Backyard MMA Scrap Has The Fence Shouting Instructions

"Fight his hands. Fight his hands." That is the instruction ringing out in the video as two shirtless fighters square up in The Scrapyard's backyard MMA ring, and the people around the fence clearly have a view on how this one should go.

One fighter is in orange gloves and camo shorts, the other in blue gloves and shorts to match. Between them stands a referee in black, and around them there is a green turf floor, a graffiti-covered shipping container and a skeleton keeping watch from above. It is as backyard as a cage gets, and The Scrapyard calls it a quick scrap.

The corner calls build as it goes. Someone urges a fighter back to the fence, someone shouts "Uh-oh" when the exchange turns, and then the cry that decides it: "Pull up, pull up, pull up", followed by "Push it in!" Every shout is a tactic, and every one of them is about a gap that just opened.

That is why these small-ring MMA scraps work. No big production, just two people, a referee and a crowd that knows exactly which hand to watch.
