A New South Wales Inquiry Is Asking Whether Bareknuckle Boxing, Power Slap And Collision Running Count As Combat Sport

Bareknuckle boxing, power slap and collision running are all sitting in the one inquiry, and the question is whether they get called combat sports.

A New South Wales parliamentary committee is looking at whether this new wave of contact sports should be regulated under the Combat Sport Authority. The inquiry is set to decide whether 'collision' running, 'bareknuckle boxing' and 'power slap' should be characterised as combat sport.

The collision running side has already had a taste of it. In September the authority argued that the Run Nation Championship, a collision running competition, should be subject to its regulations. Despite their submissions to the Supreme Court, RNC were forced to delay their event.

That is the context fighters and promoters will want to watch. The committee's answer decides which rulebook the new wave plays under, and it lands right as bareknuckle and slap nights keep filling rooms.

Krakjaw will be following where it goes, because every club show and backyard card that runs under the gloves, or without them, has a stake in the result. Reporting by ABC Sport, with vision from @runnation.
